Kerri Olsen
President
Kerri Olsen is a steel professional with over 40 years trade experience. Extensive plant management background specializing in shop manufacturing of all types of welded tanks, structural and miscellaneous steel products and modular process units for the Alaska North Slope, fabrication of aluminum and alloy products as well. Knowledgeable of ASTM, API, AWWA, ASME, AISC, AWS codes and OSHA safety requirements. Excellent quality and safety record. Leader and trainer of shop fabrication, scheduling and purchasing personnel resulting in total teamwork production. Proven track record of cost control, budget discipline, on time delivery and quality products. Author of the ‘Estimating for Steel Construction’ manual, and of many articles for the Connection, Modern Steel Construction, Structure Magazine and the Daily Journal of Commerce. Adjunct Instructor and Curriculum designer and instructor for a Virtual College class on Structural Steel Detailing Project Management, North Central Technical College, Wausau, WI. Current NISD President and editing manager for The Connection.

I have been in the Steel Detailing industry since 1996 when I started work for my father at Loch and Associates until he retired. I have been a member of NISD since 2000 and an NISD Certified Detailer since 2002. I have been a long standing Board Member and in the past, have served as Chair of the Education Committee. I have been working at DBM Vircon since 2012 as a project coordinator and then in 2018 transitioned into the Sales and Business Development Role.

Brian Pyper

Brian Pyper embarked on his structural steel career in 1987 as a Scottish ironworker. In 1995, he transplanted his expertise to Canada, complementing his on-the-job experience with 18 months of intensive college study, resulting in a diploma in structural steel detailing. With over three decades in the industry, Brian has ardently pursued excellence in drafting, engineering, and business within the steel detailing industry. Holding an MBA and earning recognition as a registered Project Management Professional (PMP) underscore his commitment to academic and professional development.
Brian’s diverse professional background encompasses roles as a detailer for a significant steel fabrication company and two leading detailing consulting firms. His leadership journey climaxes as the Chief Operating Officer (COO) at Dowco Consultants, where he strategically influences the company’s trajectory. Brian Pyper’s narrative is one of steadfast dedication, perpetual learning, and transformative leadership, exemplifying how passion and commitment can carve an illustrious path in the complex landscape of structural steel.

Ryan Wunderle

Ryan started in the steel industry in 2008 as a detailer trainee at a local detailing firm. He worked his way up the ranks learning every aspect of the trade & business until 2015 when he left to start American Steel Detailing, LLC. From there, Ryan and the team have continued to find, hire and train exceptional steel detailers to further help our clients with their detailing needs.
Russell Neal
Revision Zero Consulting Co.
With over four decades of professional experience, Russell possesses a comprehensive background in Boilermaking/Welding, Steel Fabrication, and Steel Detailing. Over the past two decades, he has primarily operated from Manila, The Philippines, preceded by roles in China, New Zealand, and Australia.
As the Chief Executive Officer of Revision Zero, a Construction Modelling firm specializing in Steel Detailing, Russell leads a team of approximately one hundred professionals catering to the construction industries in the United States, United Kingdom, and Australasia.
Russell’s industry influence extends to his past role as a board member of SCNZ (Steel Construction New Zealand), representing detailing interests. Presently, he holds the position of President and Founder of the PCMA, (Philippine Construction Modellers Association). His commitment to fostering international collaboration is evident in his representation on the board of the NISD (National Institute of Steel Detailing).

Experiences in all facets of structural and miscellaneous steel detailing, estimating, fabrication and erection since 1962. Born and raised in the Southern Connecticut area.
Opened and Operated, MFP Steel Detailing Service, LLC, from 1997 to 2017. Currently work part time for a large steel fabricator in their Drafting and Sales Dept.
I enjoy outdoor activities like biking, hiking and long walks. I’m also president of The Southern Connecticut Cycle Club.
Jim Truitt
NISD Director and Chairperson for IDC. Former Vice President of the NISD California Chapter.
Experiences in all facets of structural and miscellaneous steel detailing, estimating, fabrication and erection since 1972. Born and raised in Pleasant Grove, Utah. Migrated to San Diego in 1981.
Opened my detailing office in San Diego in 1993. Owner of Rocky Point Detailing LLC and Aircad LLC. Been using SDS2 since 1998. Re-located the office headquarters to Las Vegas, NV In 2010.
I enjoy spending time with family, friends and detailers. Private pilot since 1976, with instrument and multi-engine ratings. My hobbies are flying and sailing.
