Mark Holland – Detailing the NASA ML2 Launch Tower

Importance of the Detailers Role in the fabrication and Construction of the NASA ML2 Launch Structure for the Artemis Program. NASA’s Artemis Program will put women and men back on the moon. To do this NASA will use the powerful Space Launch System or SLS. To handle such a powerful launch vehicle a new mobile launch tower is being built. This discussion will walk you through the setup of the project, some of the complexities of the design (and design changes), and how critical sound detailing is to the success of the project. Topics like the RFI process, how critical good interaction between the designer and all the subs means success, and how important it is to track every aspect of the work regardless of how small. A brief explanation of the Artemis Mission will also be provided.
