History

In 1969, a group of businessmen met at the Metro Airport in Detroit. They had one thing in common, they were all Structural Steel Detailers. They had a common purpose, to form a professional association.

From this small nucleus at
Detroit came the idea of a national organization. Detailing firms throughout the country were contacted and on may 10th, 1969 thirty-eight detailing firms were represented at the Constitutional Convention held at Houston, Texas.

The basic concept of this professional group found immediate acceptance, and out of the first meeting grew the National Institute of Steel Detailing, which now has members throughout the World.
